There’s something truly special about visiting the origin of coffee, stepping onto the land where it all begins, and meeting the people who dedicate their lives to growing the beans we love. This year, I had the privilege of travelling to Fazenda Santa Lucia in Brazil—a stunning, sustainable coffee farm where craftsmanship, tradition, and innovation come together to produce some of the finest coffee in the world.
Why Visiting Coffee Producers Matters

The Journey from Cherry to Cup
Walking through the plantation, I saw coffee cherries being handpicked at their peak ripeness. This careful selection ensures the highest quality in every batch. I followed the journey as the cherries were sorted, processed, and dried, a process that requires patience and precision. From the delicate balance of fermentation to the drying beds under the Brazilian sun, every step is a labour of love and expertise.
Understanding these processes in person allows us to roast with more intention, ensuring that every flavour note, every aroma, and every texture is honoured in our final brew.

One of the most inspiring aspects of Fazenda Santa Lucia is their commitment to sustainability. Their farming methods prioritise soil health, biodiversity, and fair wages for workers.
